In the case of imported food products, is the exporter or the importer responsible for ensuring that the product is properly labeled?
The foreign facilities permitted to export to the U.S. and producing the product are responsible for proper labeling unless the importer reprocesses or repackages the product under official inspection, whereupon the importer becomes responsible.
